Words of Wisdom: The Martian

This past weekend, we were filming the final scenes for Michael Lawrence up in Berlin, NH with Narrow Street Films. To say it was an epic shoot would be understating case: almost everything that could go wrong, did. We had last minute cast changes, personal tragedies, relationship drama, equipment struggles, spiders, emergencies - the only thing that didn't happen was the building didn't catch on fire (thank God) and we didn't encounter rats (thank you, thank you, thank you, God!).

Everything turned out okay, though. In fact, everything turned out better than okay, largely due to the fact that we'd been blessed with a great crew who had awesome attitudes and can-do spirits. But in the midst of everything going down, there were times where I was wondering whether we were going to have to go home in defeat. And that's where this quote came to mind.

I don't know if you've seen The Martian or read the book, but if you haven't, do yourself a favor and get on that. Not only is it one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time, its also got some awesome quotes on hard work and good attitude. This is the quote that got me through last weekend (that and the terrific attitudes of the team, naturally). I share it with you and remember: any challenge can be overcome one step at a time.
