Name: Harry Gagnon Position: Retired veteran Category: Suspect Played by: Jim Murphy (Excerpt from the book Michael Lawrence - the Season of Darkness) Harry Gagnon sat staring at his hands, trying to think, trying to feel, trying to grasp something that made sense. Emma was gone. It was unbelievable but it was true. He ought feel something. Pain, probably, sorrow definitely, but no emotion seemed to touch him. Everything felt as if it stood at a distance, as if he were simply an observer of terrible event that had occurred to someone else, on television perhaps. He was numb. It was normal, he knew, it had been the same before, when he had seen combat. The terror, the anguish, the pain, it had all remained hidden away in his psyche, buried so deeply that he had not known it had existed. Fool that he had been then, he actually thought that he could get away with killing the enemy and their children without feeling regret... The major portion of Jim Murphy’s career has been spent as a Professor of Theatre teaching Acting, Directing and Shakespeare. He is a national award recipient for teaching excellence, work on behalf of the American College Theatre Festival earned him a Kennedy Center Medallion, he was awarded an NEH fellowship to study Shakespeare at the American Shakespeare Center, and he was a Directing Fellow at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. Directing credits involve better than 100 productions. Personal favorites include Blood Brothers, Avenue Q, Noises Off, The Importance of Being Earnest, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, A Midsummer’s Night Dream and King Lear.
